Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how BiteTrack handles information when you use the BiteTrack mobile app and related website.

Information We Collect

BiteTrack may process the following information:

How Meal Photos Are Used

After you provide explicit permission, the selected image and any meal note are sent through a Supabase-hosted backend function to the paid Google Gemini API so calories and macros can be estimated. BiteTrack does not intentionally store meal photos on Supabase. Google may retain prompts and responses for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring, but states that paid API prompts and responses are not used to improve its products. The estimate is returned to the app for your review. Do not upload sensitive images or images you do not want processed for food analysis.

How We Use Information

Local Storage

The current MVP stores your meal logs, profile, and progress data locally on your device. Deleting the app removes this local data from the device.

Service Providers

We use Supabase for backend hosting, Google Gemini for meal-image analysis, RevenueCat for subscription management, AppsFlyer for install attribution and campaign analytics, and Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central for barcode-based product information. These providers process information to deliver, secure, and measure the services they provide to BiteTrack. We require service providers to protect personal information consistently with this policy and applicable law.

Analytics and Attribution

BiteTrack sends limited app events, app and device identifiers, and subscription-related events to AppsFlyer and RevenueCat. We use this information to understand installs, campaign performance, subscription access, and app reliability. BiteTrack does not send meal photos, meal notes, body measurements, or food logs to AppsFlyer for advertising measurement.

Subscriptions and Payments

Purchases are handled through Apple. Apple processes payment information according to Apple policies. BiteTrack receives subscription status information so the app can unlock paid features.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers, when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer.

Data Retention and Deletion

Profile information, meal logs, and progress entries remain on your device until you delete the app. Meal-analysis requests are processed by our service providers to return an estimate; technical and security logs may be retained under their applicable policies. Apple and RevenueCat may retain purchase records as required to provide subscriptions, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations. You can request assistance with data questions or deletion by contacting us.

Children

BiteTrack is intended for adults age 18 and older and is not directed to children. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
